Will she ever be ready

Postby pookie3101 on Wed 10 Mar, 2010 1:57 pm

I can't believe that Anna is still in nappies at nearly 3. I thought she'd be out of them by now & at this rate I can see her going to school in them. As it is, she's also the only one at pre-school in nappies, which brings all those "I thought cloth nappy babies potty trained early, obviously not, so what's the point" type comments, which I could do without.

she goes quite a while between wees now & if I go to change her nappy after 3 hours it is dry, but will be wet by 4. I'm giving her nappy free time whenever we are at home but she just doesn't seem to know when she wants to go but will tell me when she's been (but she's been doing this for about a 8 months now). Today she sat on the toilet, then said she'd finished, washed her hands, went to sit at table for lunch & did a wee on the floor.

I don't want to push her but have honestly had enough now. I waited & waited for her to give me some signs but I think she is going to need a little push. I just don't want it to become long & drawn out. I think I'll see if she gets it this week, as I've got to stay in as Ella has had diarrhea so can't go to school until she's clear 48 hours, and if not then back to nappies for a while.

Ella was so so easy in comparison as she just decided she didn't want to wear a nappy & that was it, done & dusted in 1 day & no accidents. Night time the same, never a dry night nappy but just decided to go without & only ever had a couple of wet beds.

None of my boys trained much before 3 and then suddenly got it in a week. I would leave her, she'll get there in her own time and you do have another, what? 18mths before school. That's a long time.

T was 3 in January and we only started the week before half term. And this is from a point of him going rigid and screaming in terror at the thought of the toilet only 3 months earlier. She may be a little later than others but she's not as late as my boys yet. Maybe she just needs a few more weeks....

Besides, you have a fab fluff stash - why wish it away so fast?!

Bella is nearly 30 months and is exactly the same. She cries for her nappy. I've given up trying to push her into it and wil wait until she asks for her knickers. I do point them out to her every now and again (to remind her), and she did chose them, but she's just not interested. She wants her nappies.

Bella doesn't currently have ANY nappy free time, except if she's in the bath  as she just cries :(

Don't worry about it.
Kiara potty training last july when she was 3 yr and 3 months old. Everybody had been putting me under pressure ever since she was 18 months old.
She cracked it in 2 days to be honest and she never showed me any of the signs.
Just keep trying from time to time and if it doesn't happen, leave it for 3 weeks or a month and try again.

Aiden was three and a month, I was the one who decided we should and it was a slow process. There was no point earlier as he used to get traumatised at the mention of the potty/toilet. He's only just started to wee in the toilet, and has only once (yesterday in fact) weed at preschool. He's still not clean
There is NO rush!

There's definately no rush. Thomas is 3 now and still working on it, and he showed signs at 2 years 3 months! He'll have days when he's fantastic, and days when he wont even bother and go straight in his pants. I've just decided to leave him to it. He'll be dry when he's ready.
