Night time training?

Postby billyphoenix on Thu 04 Feb, 2010 9:59 pm

Is there any point in trying to night train Lauchie if he has never had a dry nappy?
I was wondering if it was worth trying to lift him before I go to bed?
I have tried once or twice and he's had a big paddy so I've not got anywhere near the toilet!

Is there anything else I could try, he's pretty good during the day just a big dribbly still? I just want to make sure I've tried!

Thanks
Lindsey

I don't think you can train at night. Tallin is still in nappies at 6 1/2yrs, is wet every single morning, and we lift him when we go to bed. Most nights he is wet by then, does a wee and has a clean nappy and then is wet in the morning. Not a chance of being dry soon.
Nayan was dry just before 5yrs, Ocean not long after he trained in the day at 3yrs.

I agree with Shadow. They're ready when they're ready and there's not much you can do until then. Luke is 7 and is finally starting to have more than the occasional dry night, but Connor has been dry more often than not since he day trained at 3 1/2.

I tried again last night and he was dry at 10.30, but wouldn't let me get him up!
Will just check on the nappy for the next few nights!

Thanks

Lifting worked for me, I did it for about 6 months - I know that's a long time but I just took her for a wee when I went to bed and she would go back to sleep and be dry in the morning. If I didn't do it she would be wet.

Then one night she went for a sleepover at MIL's and I forgot to tell her to lift her, and she was dry in the morning. I've hardly had a wet night since then, only when she's been very constipated. She rarely wakes up to wee, just holds it in.

Ultimately, if she had kept weeing I would have kept lifting her. She had not had a lot of dry nappies when I took her out of nappies at night, but I had my reasons (again, constipation-related) otherwise I probably would have kept her in til they were dry more often than not

So I don't know whether I trained her or not - I think she was just ready, she was about 3 and a half IIRC
