How do i...?

Postby toothlesswonder on Mon 08 Feb, 2010 12:32 pm

This is a really silly question, but how to i wash my wool with a small bit of a wooly wash bar?

I had planned on using my liquid woolly wash, and putting it all in the machine on the wool cycle, but as that's gone awol i can't.

I've come across a tester bit of a woolly wash bar so am going to use that - but how? And do i need to rinse before lanolising?

I've never tried but I'd grate it for a machine, just like soap flakes.

I put mine in a little mesh bag, in the dispenser, then leave the end of the mesh bag hanging out of the drawer. I take it out after 1/2hr or so and allow the rinse cycle to continue. Then when it's spun gently I lanolise in the sink.

The bit i have is about the size of the last knuckle of my little finger - would this be enough to either grate or to put into a mesh bag, if i can find one?

sounds like too much hard work... dissolve the little piece in some hot water and pretend it is woolly wash. Easy!

Wish i'd seen this earlier :(

Neither above suggestions worked very well - i ended up washing them twice, and they still are quite badly stained.

Anyone know where i can get more woolly wash from - and that take cheques?

I have imse vimse wool shampoo but I think I'm out of wool cure.
TBH, bad stains might need a severe hand wash.

Sorry if this is too late, but I find stubborn stains need a good rub with a bar. Holland & Barratt sell olive oil soap, it's only about 85p a bar, if you have one near you.
